Smartphone Market Update: Which smartphone are ActiveRainers using?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Moby

If you have been following the smartphone market lately you may have noticed that the market has been experiencing quite a rollercoaster ride. One minute BlackBerry is making a big comeback with its 9800 Torch, the next minute Google’s Android platform is surpassing Microsoft in market share.

If you are in the market for a new smartphone, first of all good luck to you, second you might want to continue reading this post for a quick market recap.

A few years ago, having a smartphone meant you were already ahead of the curve because you could connect to the internet on the go. Now, with numerous platforms entering the market, we are no longer satisfied with just the internet. Instead we have started basing our purchase decisions on operating systems, app selections and browser speeds.

As many of you might remember, a couple of months ago we wrote a blog post on choosing the right Smartphone. We will be the first to admit that our post has already turned into yesterday’s news. So to stay as up-to-date as possible we wanted to recap the latest entrants into the smartphone playing field:

Smartphone Comparison

Having the latest smartphone is no doubt great, but lets not forget that no matter how fantastic a smartphone may be, it is useless if it is not a right fit for the person using it. Just imagine a Wyoming Realtor showing a ranch in an Armani suit: she may look great but lets face it people will likely think she has lost her marbles. So make sure you do plenty of research to find the phone that is best suited for you, which may not necessarily be the one that is best suited for the masses.

Now that you have had time to soak up all the information, we want to hear what you think! To spice things up, we thought it would be interesting to see which Smartphone platform ActiveRainers are loyal to. If you want to see your smartphone platform move up to first place, don't forget to vote!

What do you think of the latest smartphones to hit the US market? Are there any other new phones that have you excited? Let us know in the comment section below.

Take care and be safe everyone!

My life changed when a few years ago when I finally caved an purchase an iphone after many years of being loyal to PALM.  The iphone is by far the easiest to use and does everything I need it to do.

I have an IPhone 3GS.  It is a great phone.  I was using a Blackberry but found the text to be too small and it crashed about once a week.  The IPhone is very intuitive and I can expand the text to a size I can actually read.  The apps are great and I use the coupons all the time to save money.  I am a big fan of Apple and the Macs so this was an easy progression for me.  When I received e-mails from my website www.searchingallscottsdalehomes.com the names and info was unable to be read.  Now I can pull up a new lead and shoot them back an e-mail almost immediately when they are still on my site. Very Convenient.

I have the palm Treo and am looking for a new phone since my contract expired last month.  I would love an iphone but do NOT want to switch to AT&T from Verizon.  Most likely I will be going with a droid of some sort.

I love my Droid! I can do so much with it and although I wasn't at first, have become extremely comfortable with it!

iPhone G4 here. Love new white cover I just got for it...

Yes, it can do it all, and is very intuitive and responsive to me (typing and all)

We are a Mac family anyway, so iPhone was self explanatory decision....

Moby,

I have an HTC Imagio. My wife got a Droid at the same time. I am very disappointed with the phone. It is slow, sometimes it freezes, sometimes it reboots itself. I am on my 3rd device as my first one broke 2 weeks ago - the touch screen stopped working. I couldn't make calls. They sent me a replacement and the red button on the bottom was stuck. I just received the 2nd replacement (3rd device) yesterday.

When I compare my phone with my wife's I feel I should have gotten the Droid. Windows Mobile never again.

Cheers.

I have a blackberry tour. I do love my smart phone because it is so much better than my previous envy I did have. I am not loyal to blackberry per say, but i am a loyal customer to Verizon. If the Iphone came to Verizon I would jump on it in an instant. The blackberry platform just lacks the apps that are available on the droid and iphone operating systems. I have a few agent friends that have the motorola droid, and i know that they have many problems with it. My choice is to keep my blackberry and get an ipad for the apps in the future.

Work on an Android -

LOVE IT -

Wife has a Blackberry - and I honestly (don't want to tell her this) but I can't see how she can even use the thing compared to the Android operating system.

Would like to try an I-Phone - but ATT coverage in my area is really bad.

I have a BlackBerry Curve and can't wait to move on from it.  I feel like BB is turning into an old dinasaur and not keeping up with technology.  I'd really like an iPhone, but can't bring myself to deal with AT&T's awful service.  Hopefully, the rumors of a Verizon iPhone will become a reality so I can move on and allow my phone to catch up with the century that we're in.

What about the Motorola Droid X?  That 4.3" screen is a big plus.

I use the Nexus One it is a really great phone.  Some times these phones scare me they can do so much these days.  If you have a smart phone download Zillow app and as you drive through areas it shows you the prices of the homes using built in GPS to realize your location.  Moving moving moving keep that technology moving

I have been using the htc Incredible for about a month. Switched from the Storm. On Verizon network - have 5 lines total, so no way am I switching to a different carrier. My favorite thing the Storm could not do that the droid does - wireless sync for my calendar from Google to Outlook to my phone, or any other direction. I HATED having to use the USB cord.
