If you live in my town (Addison, Texas) you can see Our Town for free!
It's not too late to make reservations to see Thornton Wilders play Our Town for free on this Sunday, September 26th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Addison's WaterTower Theatre is presenting this opportunity to meet other Addison neighbors and see a classic play in a "one of a kind facility by a one of a kind theatre company." I attended the preview last night. This is an opportunity to see the theatre's artistic director Terry Martin on the stage instead of behind the scenes, as he plays the role of Stage Manager.
Our Town, first produced in 1938, is set in turn-of-the-20th-Century Downers Grove, New Hampshire, but the message of the play is timeless. If you've never seen Our Town, or haven't seen it in a while, don't pass up this opportunity. You'll need proof of Addison residency for your free tickets. Just call the box office at 972-450-6232 before the matinee tickets are gone.
If you're not an Addison resident (or miss the free performance), tickets are $20. Our Town runs September 27 - October 24, 2010 at the Addison Theatre Centre, which is located at 15650 Addison Road in Addison, Texas. Performance times are Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Fridays at 8:00 PM, Saturdays at 2:00 PM (October 23 only) and 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM.
