In a recent post I wrote about why Buyers want Move-In Ready homes.
In today's market, most Buyers want to be able to move in, unpack and start their new life. And in some cases even though a Buyer may be planning on making the house their own with updates, remodels or just fresh paint, these projects may be months or years down the road.
In the meantime, they want a home that will work for them until they tackle those projects. (Take investors out of the picture.... they're goals are different .)
Here are 6 Easy Tips to Make Your Home Move-in Ready:
1. Complete any projects you have started and haven't finished. This includes any Deferred Maintenance that you have been putting off. Unfinished projects, like the light plate to the right need to be addressed.
2. Paint- Even if you've recently painted your house, if your colors are taste specific and less than neutral consider getting out the paintbrush!
3. Replace worn or less than neutral colored carpet. This distracts from a buyer seeing the possibilities of your house and will view it as either another added cost or not even consider it at all.
4. Handle This! Take a close look at your exterior and interior door fixtures and hardware. If they are tarnished, pitted, rusty or just worn invest a little time and money in replacing them.
5. Replace or upgrade your bathroom and kitchen sinks and fixtures if they are outdated, pitted or worn. Your chipped porcelain sinks will only distract from the overall positive appearance of your home.
6. Shine a Light! These usually scream UPDATE ME! There are inexpensive treatments for adding pendant lights to existing fixtures as well as replacing dated entry chandeliers.
These are just a few items that can help get your home in Move-In Ready condition. You can always contact your local Professional Home Stager to get a detailed report tailored to your specific needs.
