Elevenacity: Raising the Bar

By

I have always been a believer that the best way to be successful in any endeavor is to study others who have been successful at the same thing and learn what you can from them.  In some cases it may even be wise to emulate them, after all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so in an effort to improve my business success, a few years ago I asked several of the agents in my market who I respect and admire to have lunch with me to learn more about their successes.

What came through loud and clear to me in looking back on those conversations was the common thread that none of them spoke of specifically, but that all of them embodied… their tenacity to continually push forward and not allow minor setbacks or circumstances derail their business momentum.

That was when I decided that in order to be as successful as the people whose careers I admired, I would have to be even more tenacious.  I decided that if TENacity was an important character trait to possess in order to be successful in real estate that ELEVENacity would be even better and raise the bar.

A few years later, as the market has shifted, and as I coach agents who work in my office, I continue to emphasize the need to be more than tenacious to be successful.  As many transactions have grown more difficult to get to closing due to lending, appraisal and short sale approval issues, if we are not more than tenacious in conducting our business, someone else will be.

Maybe in this market it’s time for us all to be TWELVEacious!
