Cory Beeson

Welcome to Ralph's Weekly Feature: Two Truths and a Lie: Guess Which One Is The Lie?

Each week, I'm going to feature one Active Rain Member, with their photo, and what they are going to do is tell you 2 Truths about them and 1 Lie.

The object of the game is to guess which of the 3 bits of trivia about them is a lie!

I will post the answer in that same blog at the end of the week on Fridays so you can all find out!

It's a great way to get to know your fellow Active Rain members and staff.

This week, we will be featuring: Cory Beeson

Corey is a broker based out of the Moreno Valley area of the Inland Empire of Southern California.  I had the pleasure of meeting Cory at the San Diego Raincamp this year.  Great guy!

OK, Here goes:

I am the father of seven children

I ran in the 1992 L.A. Marathon

I survived 3rds with Boxing Great "Sugar" Shane Mosley

OK, gang. Tell me which one is the lie!

Remember, for those members who guess the most amount of correct lies at the end of the month, you will be awarded 1,500 Bonus Points! If there is a tie, each member who ties will be awarded 1,000 Bonus Points!

(Also, for those of you who would like to be featured, let me know, send me your 2 Truths And a Lie without telling me which is the lie and I will put you on the list - remember! make them good ones!)

Oh God, I'm going to win, I know I am going to win.  #1 is true, look at those eyes, a lot of women would be inclined (literally).  A marathon is possible. Now ta da

#3 is the lie, look at that nose, no boxer has a perfectly lovely nose like that.  No changing votes.  I win.

Well this sure was fun!

As far as the 7 children go, Michelle and I married in December of '84 right out of high school. Our oldest is 24 and our youngest is 8.  The older five children are all about a year apart.  The oldest was still five years old when our fifth child was born (no, there are no twins).  When our youngest was 8 years old, I got a phone call while I was in line at Wallgreens at the 1 hr photo (Ad was on deadline), and Michelle told me she was pregnant.  We thought we were done with 5, but that was just not to be.  We were very excited about having the new little one around, and decided that there was too much of an age gap between Seth and his older siblings, so we decided to have one more.  So there you have it, 5 became 7 real quick.  Though sometimes it was a struggle with such a large family, each and everyone of them have been a blessing in our lives and we wouldn't change any of it for the world.

                                                       ********************

Back in the early 90's I ran fairly often knocking out 3 miles at a whack.  I decided to push myself a little and take it to the next level and gave mini-triathlons a whirl.  We would ride our bikes for 15-20 miles, run a 5k (3.125 miles)  and swim a couple hundred yards.  Back then I was a weighing 210-220lbs, but fortunately, there was a Clydesdale division for all the big boys to compete in.  The Clydesdale Division was great since our times wouldn't have compared to the speed demons that weighed a buck 40.

In '92 a very good friend of mine was running for Congress, so I decided to run the Marathon to help raise money for his campaign.  Two weeks before I ran in L.A., I ran 6 miles (double my normal run) twice that week.  The weekend before, I pushed myself and ran 10 miles which was a milestone for me.  The last week of training I ran a couple 3 milers and hoped I was ready.  I didn't break any records that day, but I did finish.  I ended up raising $900 for my friend that was running for Congress, and that made crossing the line that much sweeter.

                                                          ********************

At this point, I'm sure you have realized that # 3 is the lie.  Though I did have a couple amature fights as a kid, I was never the caliber of boxer that would have the honor of trading leather with a great like Sugar Shane.  When I was a little guy my Dad would take me and my 3 brothers down to The Teamsters Gym in L.A. to train.  I did spar occasionally with eventual Champion Tony Baltazar, but I always got spanked.  In high school, me and my youngest brother Mike had a short stint out of The 6th Street Gym in Chino CA.  A good friend of ours from high school, Keith Jones, was a fighter as well, but he trained at a "REAL" Gym in the city across the way called Pomona.  It just so happens that a kid named Shane Mosley fought out of the same club with our buddy Keith.  Though they sparred all the time, I never had the pleasure... the pleasure of getting knocked out.  :)

I had a great time with this! Thanks to you all for chiming in, and thanks again to you Ralph... you make things fun around here.

San Juan Bautista and Hollister as well!

I'm  going with #2 if he ran the marathon in 92 he may have used up all his stamina to be blessed with seven children as well as getting popped early in the first round by Mosely. I'm goin with number two either way this is quite interesting.

I just broke the code for the correct guess … decide 1 – 2 or 3 before I even read it – make it random (LOL)! Thanks Cory for the reveal … interesting and fun reading. Ralph, as always – thanks for creating this fun game.

Ralph, although you have already published the answer, I was going to guess that number one was the answer.  That he did not have seven children.  I figured someone who was smiling like that couldn't POSSIBLY have seven kids.  Oh well !

Ok, so now I'm guessing #3! Does that count? I didn't read the explanation, really I didn't...just woke up with a change of heart....lol.

I do have 5 kids.....when I married my "current" husband (he hates that after 16 years) he had 2 kids and so did I, and then we had one more together (why not). They are mostly grown now. But I've added a daughter-in-law. The only kid still at home is our 15 year old. So the only children I really have to raise are the other agents. Just kidding.

And glad that Cory was blessed with 5 boys. Tammy is right, girls are more expensive in more ways than one...
