Fall is in full swing and most of Portland Farmer's Markets are coming to the end of their season. This is my favorite time to visit the market and I've been on the look out for the best markets, where I can support our local growers. This weekend I had the chance to check out the Sunday Market in the King Neighborhood, located on NE 7th between NE Alberta and NE Prescott. The market was full of great local farmers and businesses, all coming together to enhance your shopping experience. The King market season runs from May 2 through October 31, and offers fresh organic produce, as well as flowers, breads, and meats that are raised without hormones, and antibodies, creating a healthy way of life.
We're pretty spoiled living in Portland, where we have a common mindset of supporting local farmers, and businesses, to help build a sustainable community and environment. It gives Portlanders a sense of pride in our community, which promotes an atmosphere for living well. Farmers Markets are abundant in almost every area of Portland, ranging from small to large, offering a variety of many different options. You can find most of the markets open between the Summer and Fall months, with a few exceptions that are open most of the year. One of the best things about the market is that they offer fresh, local foods, at an incredibly affordable price. Today I spent less than $15 and I purchased all my produce for the upcoming week for my family. To find out where more of what the best Portland markets have to offer, stay tuned as I make my way around to some of my favorite spots before they close for the season.
