St. Andrews by the Sea - New Brunswick

By
Real Estate Agent

Saint Andrews, New Brunswick  or St. Andrews By-the-Sea as it's more commonly called is a little seaside Town filled with charming colonial homes; (some of them barged to the area from Maine at the end of the Revolutionary War) many of them listed under the New Brunswick and Canadian Registry of Historic Places.

We had lunch at the historic  Castle-By-the-Sea - The Fairmont Algonquin Hotel - overlookingPassamaquoddy Bay; had a tour, listened to ghost stories, and saw the room that Lady Di and Prince Charles stayed in - while visiting.  Although we saw it when the tide was out - the nearby Bay of Fundy lays claim to the highest tides in the world with rising and falling water levels nearing 55 feet in areas, twice daily.

55 foot tides!!!!   I remember when we summered in Maine when I was a child - the tides were huge - but no more than 20 feet.

Hi Liz - You seem to like visiting CP Hotels (now Fairmont Hotels).  It would be nice if they still built hotels like they did a long time ago.  The Fairmont Algonquin hotel is very beautiful and had great service when I was in the area.

Isn't that the cutest little place?  We stayed in the campground last summer, and it was wonderful to wake up right by the ocean.
