I’m gonna knock your lights out!

By
Home Inspector with Charles Buell Inspections Inc.

When choosing light fixtures for your home, it important to consider whether they will be subject to mechanical damage or not.  I often find light fixtures that can be impacted when windows are opened, or hit by cabinet doors----or merely hung so low that one whacks their head on them when walking by.

There is nothing quite like hot sharp glass going down ones neck----or under one’s bare feet.

Here is a light fixture that was a poor choice for its proximity to a swinging door.

I'm gonna knock your lights out!

Just click on the picture to see what happens.

Don---just for blog fodder :)

Carol, I would have a lot more fun making other things up instead of this sort of thing

Paul, I had one yesterday where opening up a casement window it hit the light fixture outside and wouldn't open fully.

As far as films go, not a very exciting movie. What genre would this fall into, bathroom horror or toilet humor? :)

Jim, you mean it isn't one of the silent classics?  I thought the color would do it for sure :)  Either genre should work

Charles, THAT light fixture looks totally inappropriate for that location... amazing what people think to put in houses. Glad you are there to save them.... I did bring my popcorn for the film so unlike James, I thought the flick was rather entertaining...

Gary, many mediocre films "require" popcorn :)

Charles I have run into some of those low hanging fixtures, not very pleasant.  I must say your job can keep you entertained.

I am continually amazed at where and how people install light fixtures!

How fortuitous that you found an example on You Tube that perfectly matches your blog's point!  You are good, man!

Mr Charles,

Frankly, it would have been more effectiver had you opened the door wider and harder and maybe busted a bulb. Now that would get a point across.

Nutsy

I guess if the door hits it enough you don't have to worry about dust settling. I wonder what rock scientist installed the light fixture?
