What Does Golf and Selling A Home Have In Common?

By

Picture 086As a golfer I see a lot of similarities between golf and different aspects of life. There are so many good books out there about golf that relates to life.  Everything from Zen For Golf to Fairways of Life. Both of which I have read and recommend.

As a Realtor I started looking for how golf and real estate compares. What does selling a home and golf have in common?

Stepping up to the tee unprepared without practicing you have no idea where the ball is going to go. You want it to fly straight down the fairway and not land in a divot. You may even want a slight draw or fade to take a bend in the fairway out of the picture. You hope that the dreaded slice or hook don’t come into play. On some courses you could end up in the next fairway on the other side of the trees, in the desert or in a water hazard. A few practice swings, step up to the ball, breathe in, breathe out, start the back swing, and…

Doug, I love it! I am about to launch my real estate career very shortly and plan to specialize in golf course communities. This is great stuff to incorporate into marketing pieces which I see you've already done on your website. If your market consists of golfers you should be "hitting a hole-in-one" with them. Pun intended. Golfers love to talk golf.

Playing? I am actually just learning and dare not go out until I have gone through all of the clinics in my Player Development Program at least once. But it does seem to be a worthy cause. We only pay cart fee to play so I may talk to my husband about doing it. I can suffer the embarrassment for a worthy cause.

BTW, I love the header on your website. I just had a logo designed for my golf niche.
