What makes a good Realtor?

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Professional Partners

What makes a good Realtor?

    • Knowledgeable...about real estate, about the area you want to look in, and about your specific needs.
    • Accessible...responds to your phone calls or emails, is willing to work around your schedule.
    • Ready to help YOU first, make the sale second...sure, Realtors make their living on commissions from the sale of houses, but if they help you get what YOU want, they will then get what THEY want.

In times when the economy turns down, specifically, the housing market, the amount of realtors working in any market tends to become thin.  This leaves homebuyers and homeowners who want to sell with fewer options.  This can be a good and a bad situation.  Some of these individuals simply disappear when the economy gets tough; some of them keep working to find opportunities for their clients. On the good side, realtors who are left standing often constitute the best of the best; those who know how to work the market even when it's not close to a hospitable place to be.   These are just a few items that make a good realtor.

If it takes awhile to find your perfect house, you will spend a lot of time with your Realtor, and you want someone who is willing to work with you until you are comfortably moved in to your new house!

The right agent, broker, REALTOR is the one you feel confortable with. Not always the guy or gal with a wall of awards. A real human being that is not just driven by volume...but by relationships, caring that is warm, genuine thru the process.

A very good summary and I agree that the surviving Realtors are indeed some of the best. However, I would venture to say that even 'good' Realtors can have a difficult time in this market.

Nice post, I have to say, I feel it's all about comunication, caring and knowledge. An agent that shows they know there stuff and want to help in everyway from start to finish, is my action plan.
