HOMEWOOD CENTRAL PARK
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved this park! I grew up nearby and it was a popular spot for my parents' Sunday School social events. It was at one of these parties that I vividly remember getting into trouble for playing on the rocks in the creek that flows through the park! I slipped and got soaking wet and had to go home and change into some dry clothes.
Homewood Central Park was established in 1948 and underwent major renovations in 2003, yet it still maintains the charm and character that I remember as a child. There is a large playground for the kids, an amphitheatre, walking trails, 2 tennis courts, pavilions with picnic tables and a huge play meadow (the site of Friday Night Flicks in the summer months).
Homewood Central Park is located adjacent to the Homewood Community Center at 1632 Oxmoor Road in Homewood.
