Like Nails on a Chalk Board

Do you participate on other blogging platforms to build your brand and bring awareness to your business?  If not, you should!  Just this evening, I read several blog articles here on AR that indicated they only participate on AR because AR has so much "Google Juice".  They felt no need to particpate on other sites or even write on their own personal blog.  This is like nails on a chalk board when I read articles like these.  AR is a great platform but it shouldn't be the only site you use to build your web presence.

AR should be one of many tools you use to build your brand.  I suggest having your main website or blog as the center of your web existence and sites like AR should be used to bring traffic and links.  For example, those that soley rely on AR as their main website, what happens if AR were to go out of business tomorrow, what would happen to your blog and articles?  They would be gone and so would your web presence.  But if you were using AR as a tool, you would only be short one tool (a pretty good one) in your tool box.

I am sure many of you have heard of Jay Thompson.  Jay has an authority real estate blog in Arizona, The Phoenix Real Estate Guy which generates tens of thousands of visitors each and every month.  Even so, you will find Jay contributing on other sites such as the Home Gain Blog, Geek Estate Blog, and many others.  Jay understands the importance of building his brand and by partipating on highly respected sites, it creates credibility.

So for those of you that what to build your web presence, I suggest you start with your OWN website or blog as your foundation and then start using your tools.

Tony:  I totally agree with you that you should not have all hour eggs in one basket.  Especially if you are either the Easter Bunny, or a Realtor.  Active Rain is great, but it should not be your only site.

By the way... about a week ago I wrote a post about WordPress blogs, and got a zillion comments.  Well, sixty-four... actually.  Come on over and take a peek.

By the way... when I was a seventh-grade teacher many, many years ago... there was nothing I enjoyed more doing... than scratching my nails all the way down and across the chalkboard.  Of course, they screamed, but then they were very, very quiet.  It worked for me.  <smile>

Our web site is the focus, and then there's AR. There really isn't enough time left in a day to do even those things the way I should, much less any more. We are the ONLY property management company here with our rentals onbline- so if someone searches that, we get the business. AS far as sales, i don't have time to do mnoer than we are already getting.
