The Printed Word... Why Is It Trusted More ?

Our local San Bernardino Sun newspaper had this Headline on their front page yesterday

"HOME PRICES INCREASE".

Yes, that's great. Its great for our industry (Real Estate), its great for homeowners, its great for the economy, and arguably its great for just about everyone.

But, why do we wait for the printed word to tell us so? There are some (investors and other savvy buyers) who didn't wait to be told when the right time to buy is. They've been buying up property left and right. But the rest of us feel more comforted by reading a headline like this.

Is it the sheep tendency and go and think where the rest of the flock does, feeling safe with our belief of where the market is because others feel the same way? Or is it we trust the opinion of this particular newspaper, or writer, or the facts and numbers they use in the article? Unfortunately I think its the former.

So the recession is now over and has been for some time and the home prices in my area are on the rise. I know this, because I read it.

I truly think in this case its the sheep tendency.

It feels like something is more "set in stone" when you read it in a paper, vs reading it online where anyone can say anything, about... well anything!
