Heat Wave Hits Mission Viejo, California

My car temperature gauge reached 111 degrees yesterday. Whew, that's hot. I remember my parents saying that "it was hot enough to fry an egg." So, I tried it.....not exactly hot enough, and the dirt made it unappealing, but still....."hot enough to create dirty, runny, scrambled eggs." Of course, that's a silly saying so it probably won't catch on, but you get my drift.

It was hot!

Today is better....so far a fast check of the thermometer shows only 90 degrees. Crazy how cool that can feel :/. We also have cloud cover, which in fire season is a bit of a concern. For an area of the country which never sees thunderstorms and rarely gets humidity....we seem to have an unusual number of fires started by lightening. But I'm hoping for the best, we are finally in a cooling trend. Whew.....

So, I'm going to try and enjoy our warm evenings and get some night time pool use. Summer is over (actually this is the first real sign of summer we've had) and pretty soon...it will be a Southern California Winter, which means 80 degree averages and fewer heat waves.

Mission Viejo is definitely a great place to live, and during the heat....we just do our morning walk around the Lake earlier in the day.

Your heat wave has extended to the San Francisco Bay Area too, Karen, although not THAT hot! Whew!

Yep, real cool today, 85.  Yesterday was an all time record in downtown L.A.  113 degrees.  Weird non summer we had.

All you Californians are complaining about the heat - I told Jane yesterday I would take it any day (especially in the middle of our January!)  Enjoy while it lasts.

Oh yes, we are complaining....way too hot for me.  This is why I don't live in Vegas or Arizona...well, this is why I don't live in Arizona, not a Vegas fan....ok and I guess I don't live in Arizona because of the lack of ocean..

Uh...what was I saying?

Karen - Yes I did get caught up in the heatwave. I was in Woodland Hills yesterday. My PLAN was to door knock as I have been procrastinating and I blew it off twice before. I have a project I am working with a partner and I wanted to get it going. I heard 115 was high.

 Then I said today
was going to be 10 degrees cooler. When I got there not only the heat but the humidity. I blew it off.

YES I am doing it no matter what tomorrow.

Karen  Thankfully, our temperature never reaches a point where we think about frying eggs

It broke 100 in Los Altos yesterday and the day before.  We're supposed to see a cooling trend.  I'm hoping it gets cooler by next Wednesday.  I don't want to walk around Anaheim at C.A.R. sweating like a pig!

Will you be going to CAR?
