Real American Heroes

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Classic Property Management

Every now and then, a real hero is born.  I have had the pleasure of knowing a few of them in my lifetime!  A hero to me is the kind of guy who is selfless and self-sacrificing.  The guy I am going to focus on today is my cousin Jim.  Jim and I were great friends growing up.  We had a blast building forts in my parents garage, playing tag football against our brothers, and generally just being kids!

As I grew up, my sense of values began to develop.  I became someone who is extremely patriotic.  Although I never served in the military, I have a tremendous amount of respect for those who did.  That is why, when I heard that Jim was going to be a United States Marine, I felt my respect and admiration for him go up several notches.  It takes a special kind of person to join the ranks of those who defend our country on a daily basis, and Jim is one of those guys.

Jim is fortunate enough to be married to an awesome woman named April.  Although Jim is a great guy, he needs someone to take care of him too!  As a matter of fact, my wife and I set those two up shortly after we were engaged, and they were married just a few months after we were!

We could all learn quite a bit from Jim about loyalty, courage, honor, and patriotism.  It is awesome to be able to call him family, and a true honor to call him my friend.

A welcome home hug for Jim.  Thanks for having the courage to leave those you love, to defend those you protect.  Semper Fi.

Tell Jim to keep his head down....he'll know...at the end of his tour is a big home coming and a hug from April....

I served in Vietnam and my son was 9 months old when I when I gave him a hug for the first time.  I never forgot that hug and Jim won't either.  A very nice post.

Hi Jonathan - I love this post!  These folks - the military and their families - really are our real-life heroes.  What an awesome way to honor Jim and April!  Welcome Home Jim, and all the best to both of them!

I grew up in a military family, and I know first hand the sacrifices the families make on behalf of their family members who choose to defend this great country we are privileged to live in.  My heart and gratitude go out to all who serve and have served - my deepest thanks for all they do and give for all of us.

Ann

John,

Semper Fi from us to your cousin Jim. We're military brats (infantry colonel) who obviously grew up in all things military. Dad is still living and is the veteran of The Bulge, Korea and Nam. On top of that we're intensly pro security, armed forces sensitive and liberal at the same time. It's an interesting mix. One that frequently confounds Dad.

Very much appreciate this post, and also want to thank you for taking your time to comment on the crest nonsense we recently did. It's all good.
