When you or those you know are moving to the Kansas City area, consider the northland. The northland in Kansas City is basically anywhere on the Missouri side of the Kansas/Missouri state line, and north of the Missouri river. Most of the population lives in either Clay or Platte counties, though several adjoining counties can also be considered "northland."
Why should someone consider the northland? That is an easy question for me. Quality of life. Whether you have children or not, attend church, shop, go to movies, attend sporting events, enjoy theatre, are outdoorsy, or just like to live where the traffic is easy to manuever, the northland is the place for you. Visit www.KansasCityNorthland.com for several links to sites of interest to northlanders.
Let's discuss just a few areas. First and foremost, there must be a distinction drawn between the Kansas City school district and the North Kansas City School district. Residents north of the river do NOT send their children to the Kansas City school district. That embroiled and troubled district is for residents that live south of the river in Jackson county Missouri. The Kansas City school district has made great strides in recent years to improve their schools, but they still remain far behind most other school districts in education quality. The North Kansas City School district is a gleaming example of great education opportunities to be had in public education in our area, and along with neighboring districts in Smithville, Liberty, Park Hill, and Platte County among others, make up a blanket of top-notch education so that wherever you choose to live in the northland, your child's education is always a priority.
Another category I consider for quality of life is opportunity for worship. The northland boasts and diverse and ever-expanding and vibrant spiritual community. No matter your religion preference, you will find others to bond and worship with in the northland.
How about shopping and dining? Zona Rosa is a leading shopping/dining destination in the KC area. Zona Rosa along with shopping and dining opportunities in and around Gladstone and Liberty, allow northlanders many choices, all within an easy drive from home.
And speaking of driving, that is one of the top reasons folks choose to live north of the river. Highways and roads in the northland are relatively clear of the congestion and back to be found in Jackson County Missouri or Johnson County Kansas(the main population areas south of the river and downtone Kansas City.) And our road systems here are laid out in a logical and thoughtful manner so as to allow almost all residents easy access to any other part of the northland with little to no driving difficulties. Work downtown? With several major roads and highways connecting the northland to downtown, commutes are free and easy for most downtown workers.
And what about housing north of the river? With a smaller population and less density, housing is affordable and abundant, and you can even have a yard if you want! Don't want a yard? Several townhome and condo communities offer the easy lifestyle you may be looking for. Search for homes on www.YourKCHomeFinder.com for your next home, north of the river.
I know I am biased, but I love the northland and would not consider living anywhere else. Need to find a home, contact me today at Randy@RandyBeale.com.
