Mum's the word

By
Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

It was a little disheartening walking into the office this morning.

I walk directly past our local bank, which is right next door to our office. Recently they planted a beautiful array of autumn flowers... pot after beautiful pot of colourful mums.  They dug some holes, and dropped the pots directly into the holes, probably figuring when the weather gets too cold, and the first frosts threaten, they'd be able to take them inside before they freeze.

Well, this moring, all of the plants are gone.  They weren't taken inside to prevent freezing, since they were still in their original pots, apparently they presented just too tempting a target for someone, and they've been stolen.

Happy, happy autumn, folks.

Edward & Celia - so true.

Glenn - well, at least it's somewhat enterprising, even though it still sucks.

Team Honeycutt - I'll just bet she was appreciative.

Rebecca - I'd agree.

Steve - unbelievable!!  (kinda funny, but unbelievable)

Kim - lookit you commenting and everything! ... at least he knew who to yell at.

It's enough to reinforce some people's negative perceptions of the human race...if we let it!

Just a bad apple at work!

They must have needed flowers in their life pretty badly.........but think of it this way you were able to give someone some sunshine in their drab little lives.

Liz & Bill - no question... could also just be some mischeveous teen-prank

Elizabeth - they weren't my flowers, so I can't take the credit

David - it truly is.

Stealing flower seems like more of a juvenile prank to me.  Can't imagine anyone else taking them.

Chris - although, if it was a teenaged prank, I would have expected to find smashed pots of flowers in the road.... no?

I help brokers build businesses they love.

When we lived in the city, the year I was invited to be on the community garden tour was such an honor. I was devestated on the Thursday before the walk to see that my yard, along with many others, had been stripped of flowering plants and expensive bushes. What kind of a creep steals plants? Put in some new mums Alan, and stay up with your camera. What a sad little criminal, but he or she should be caught.

Leslie - it wasn't my yard, nor even my company's flowers... it was the bank next door to us.  I'm not going to replace the flowers, nor am I gonna sit, bleary-eyed at 3 in the morning, waiting to catch the thief.  On the scale of 1 to 10, as far as crimes go, this one doesn't even rate a 1... but it's creepy, nonetheless.

I once did volunteer work for a non-profit organization, and a church group wanted to give back to the community, so they planted beautiful pine bushes all over the periphery of the front yard, and guess what?, they disappeared overnight.  The Nerve.  I share you pain.  By the way, the rest of the article was good as well. thanks for sharing.

Elizabeth - winter's rapidly approaching here, I doubt they'll replace them now.

Stephen - the "rest" of the article...?   What "rest" of the article... the whole article is about the loss of the mums.  But thanks.

Endre - good news... the bank has already replaced them... there were fresh new mums this a.m. looking just as glorious as the first bunches, except this time they're fully "planted".
