Petaluma Pumpkin Patches

By
Real Estate Agent with John L Scott Boise Real Estate

Hello and welcome to my first blog.  My name is Doug Lupsha and I am local realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Petaluma.   Most importantly I am dad and husband, my son is 5 years old.  It seems I am always looking for things to do with him.  So have decided to write this blog about family activities and happenings around Petaluma, along with other tid bits I call "Things I tripped over."   These could be anything from a great promotion going on at restaurant, something weird I saw while out and about or anything I find interesting.  I will also be spot lighting communities within Petaluma, regarding real estate market conditions.

I am open to all any suggestions so feel free to comment, suggest or recommend.

Petaluma Pumpkin Patches

Adobe Pumpkin Farm
2478 East Washington St
(707) 763-6416
www.adobepumpkinfarm.com
Open daily September 24 through October 31, 10 am-dusk
This is the granddaddy of Pumpkin Patches.  We have been taking our son there since he was born.   According to their website, it's 30 acres.  All I know it's huge and I have spent hours at a time exploring with my family.  There is always at least one Jumpy house and on weekends it could be up to 4.  The huge flower patches to pick flowers.  Haunted house, gift shop, pumpkin picking, farm animals, coffee, flowers, vegetables, a Halloween barn with tons of Halloween decorations, a Christmas shop and of course Tractor Rides.  On the weekends there will be Bar B Q, Roy's Hot Dogs, Taco Stand and cotton candy. Something new this year, starting 10/9, Pumpkin Fairy Godmother rises out of the pumpkin patch every weekend to tell stories, visit, and sprinkle fairy dust on your pumpkins!   Some of these extra's cost a to do, but it's well worth it and your family will have great memories forever.  Bring a camera.

Peterson's Farm
636 Gossage Ave (off Petaluma Blvd N)
Petaluma
(707) 765-4582
www.petersonsfarm.com
Open daily in October, 10 am-6 pm

Rated top 5 pumpkin patch in San Francisco Bay Area and Marin Mommies give it lots of praise for taking small children to pick pumpkins. Peterson's is pesticide and herbicide free.  Not only do they have many varieties of pumpkins, there are farm animals, free range chicken eggs, their own honey, and beeswax skin softener and picnic areas for the family.  School and group tours available by appointment.

Peter Pumpkin Patch
Spring Hill Jersey Farm
4235 Spring Hill Rd
(707) 762-3446
www.springhillcheese.com
Open daily in October, 9 am-dusk

This is an old favorite of Petaluma and sentimental one for me.  I gave my son his first ice cream at this Peter Pumpkin patch.  Organic Pumpkin Ice Cream, it's worth the drive to give it try.  Besides ice cream you can pick pumpkin, dig for potatoes, take a tractor ride, visit farm animals, taste homemade ice cream and Spring Hill cheese, milk a cow, and get lost in the hay maze. Peter Pumpkin Patch also offers fresh fruits and vegetables and picnic baskets. This is a wonderful and fun pumpkin patch on a real working farm.  Since this is a working farm, there are fly's all over the place.

Petaluma Pumpkin Patch and Amazing Corn Maze
550 Stony Point Rd
Petaluma
www.petalumapumpkinpatch.com
Sunday-Thursday, 10 am-6 pm
Friday and Saturday, 10 am-10 p

Pumpkins, squash, and gourds, as well as a 4-acre amazing corn maze, extra charge for the maze.  Farm animals, pony rides, face painting, jumpy houses and inflatables mostly on the weekends.  This place gets pretty busy with lots of school tours during the week, but don't be scared, it's big enough for everyone.  I'm not certain the reason the corn maze is so amazing is because it's so big or the fact that this corn maze brings south bound 101 to a crawl. "It's corn maze, keep your eyes on the road and drive, please."

Tara Firma Farms
3796 I Street Ext
Petaluma
Open through Halloween, daily, 10 am-5 pm

www.tarafirmafarms.com

I have heard nothing but great things about Tara Firma Farms.  I have not had the chance to actually visit.   According to website it's not so much a pumpkin patch has having a Pumpkin Party on 10/23.  Which will include a barn jam session by musicians, pumpkin carving and pumpkin lighting at sunset, event goes from 2-11 and tickets need to be purchased in advance.  Check out the website for more details and I hope to see you there.

Take a free Ranger-led hay ride that even those in wheelchairs can enjoy! Pick your own pumpkin in our huge pumpkin patch. Come watch our blacksmith in action as he crafts various iron pieces. The harvest of fall goodness includes colorful gourds, mini-pumpkins, unusual squash, multi-colored corn and more! The World Record Pumpkin Seed-spitting Contest is open to all. Visitors can also sign up for an orientation to receive a Day Use Permit for the park. Festival admission is $3 for ages 13 and up, $1 for children 12 and under; parking is $6 per car or free with a Sonoma County Regional Parks Park Pass. School field trips may be scheduled.  It can get hot out there so I suggest going early.

Thanks Barbara,

I think I am going to enjoy this blogging and all the other items that will go with it.

I am very lucky to live in Petaluma.  Think Mayberry, but a touch larger.

Thanks Maggie and Bill,

Last year I had 20 for Dukes Bday with pumpkins.  Not one boy touched the pumpkins, all they wanted to do was play in jumpy house.  Good luck with 47
