It's Freezing in my office...
Why do people (men!) find it necessary to set the thermostat down to subzero temperatures?!
This has been an ongoing War and joke with myself and the man I work with. I will turn the thermostat up and he will come behind me and turn it down. I have a space heater at my feet, even in the summertime. I bring a sweater to work with me everyday, although I could really use a thermal heated blanket! It's hard to be productive when you are cold.
A couple of months ago my male co-worker brought in an article explaining why I am always freezing and he was always hot. The article contributed the temperature preferences of men and women to several factors:
- Women are generally smaller and a man's large body mass will keep a man warmer.
- Men usually wear more clothes (suit and tie), clothes that cover their necks and feet, thus keeping them warmer. Women on the other hand in a dress or skirt with heels don't have that extra protection.
- Body hair (I laughed at this one!) Women shave their legs and men don't. Those hairy legs, arms, back keep a man warmer than a woman.
The article suggested dual air conditioning for the office! What a great idea, I am all for it. I want my own vent so I can set it at around 80 and be comfortable!!
