The Highs and Lows of Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Preferred

Wow!  Yesterday was one of those days that first had me wondering what I was doing in the business and then reminding me what I like about it all within hours.  First, a client (sweet young couple) who had an accepted offer on a great house called to tell me that the husband had just lost his job.  Oh no!  The almost certain financing dissolved.  After commiserating with them and assuring them that I could get their earnest money back, I received a call from a listing agent of a property that another client had written on a few weeks back.  The seller had refused to consider their offer then, but with winter looming ever closer, the seller decided to make a counter offer.  After a little negotiating, we managed to put together a deal that made everyone happy.  Joy!

I feel drained but exhilarated because I see that nothing is certain.  Those first clients may be back in a few weeks, exited about a new job and ready to buy.  They will call me because I was hopeful and supportive in their time of need.  Oh yes, and I'm a hero to the other clients because I was able to broker a deal that seemed impossible.  I guess that pretty much explains why I love the real estate business and will press onward searching for the inevitable highs after the inevitable lows.

That is what is so rewarding about real estate as a career.  Once you accept that there are ups and downs, you can start to sit back and enjoy the ride.  This is an excellent example.

It matters to us as much as it matters to you.

My mama said there'd be days like this.  After a couple of months of the tough stuff, I am ready for the sweet.  Glad you had a good ending to your day.  If you continue to help people, the rewards will always be there one way or the other and the helping is it's own reward.
