What does the ocean mean to me? That was a thought provoking question that was raised when I stumbled upon a link to the Nautica Blog today called Ocean2Ocean. As a fourth (at least) generation coastal resident, I think it almost is instinctual for me to stay near the  ocean. The ocean draws me close. It is moody and everchanging. Our family had a sea captain, sailors, boat builders, fishermen and a surfboard builder.  My father was the two latter examples of our sea fairing men. As the Ocean2Ocean video says: "There are so many ocean stories to be told". We do have so many stories to tell.

My Ocean Loving Friends Would Love This Video...

I found out just how important the coastal lifestyle was to me. My husband and I moved away from the South Bay for a time.  A good friend said, once he learned we were moving away, “oh no I could not move, if I get one mile from the beach I hyperventilate”.  He was right! That is what it felt like to be two hours drive away from the ocean. So thankful to be back at the coast! I love to travel to many parts of the world but happy to return home. Where’s home? The South Bay, Palos Verdes Peninsula, California. The area continues to amaze me. The diversity of lifestyles we have avaliable to home owners in this coastal community make it an exceptional area to make home.
