The Century Bike Ride 2010 was recently held in Door County and a couple of very good musician friends of mine from Madison participated, as they have for several years. Adam Michie of Bluetrain and Bonobo Secret Handshake and Mark Loder of The Relics are pictured in the first picture.
There were some changes this year, primarily location. The Fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay is the new locale which affords more people the opportunity to participate due to the ability to overcome space limitations.
There are two excellent aspects of this race. The local scenery all along the way is one of them, but the other part is the flexibility to accommodate all abilities. You can do the Century (100 miles) or the half century (I remember that birthday!), or anything in between. This means that lots of families with children can participate and select their own routes geared to the energy and skill levels of the kids.
They even had a real Start and Finish lines this year!
And they feed you! Here are the bikers chowing down after the race. You could really work up an appetite after 100 miles.
There is still time to register for next year. Adam, Mark and friends recommend it!
