Amherst NH is a great place to live

We have lived in Amherst for over 15 years and just love the character of the town...with access to shopping and most anything you need within minutes, yet it maintains its rural and country feel.

We lived in historic Amherst Village for years, raising our son in town.  Some of my favorite things to do on the Amherst Village Green:

They flood a field in town where families can go and ice skate (I liked that since you didn't worry about it being frozen and someone falling through the ice)

The Amherst Green in the Village is the center of year round activities such as:

The Easter Egg hunt is always fun

The 4th of July Parade is a great event that brings in folks from all over

Halloween, oh boy is that a good time...They close off many roads to traffic and kids and adults from all over to trick or treat.  We enjoyed this for years with our son and now continue to go just to walk around and enjoy the costumes, both (adult and children) and the festivities.

And Christmas, my favorite....the Christmas Tree lighting, sleigh rides, historic home tour and the best of all..Village homes are decorated with simple white candles in the windows...can't miss the Christmas Eve service either with live nativity and church bells...its just magical.

Fall in the Village is just beautiful; I remember a day when we were watching our son play Football at Wilkins School and it was a crisp Fall day, the colors were ablaze with reds and orange...the kids voices and then the church bells started ringing...Felt like the Chevy Chase movie where they said, Cue the Deer...
