Sometimes this job is just so worth it!

The Thursday before last I had an elderly lady referred to me who needed to sell her condo quickly as she needed to move to another state and purchase a home there to be with a family member. In her development prices have dropped and sales have been sluggish being under pressure from neighboring developments.

I met with her, explained the process and the situation, showed her recent sales and what other condos similar to hers were on the market. Whilst being nervous, and a little overwhelmed, she was full of energy. She listened and she decided on a price to list her home. I explained what I would do to sell her home and she signed the paperwork. She asked what she needed to do around her home as it was a little crowded. I gave my suggestions, there was a wall full of family photographs, which I suggested might have to come down but said I would come back with Trudy on Sunday as Trudy has more staging experience than I do and has completed a staging course as well. On Sunday we met and she explained that it was all overwhelming, and she had been very upset that she would have to remove the photos and patch the holes etc. Trudy looked around and said forget removing the photos, yes when you sell they will have to be done but there are other things we can do right now. We moved some furniture, putting it in her storage area and suggested that some knick knacks be packed up and put away. She was so relieved that she would not have to remove the photos, that she willingly set about packing up far more than we suggested. Showings started on Thursday and I held an open house yesterday, and we received an offer that morning.

I almost did not recognize the home when I walked in yesterday as she had packed up so much stuff, it looked wonderful and far more spacious than when I had first met her. We discussed the offer, handled some negotiations and got her home under agreement. She is so thrilled and excited as she can now plan her move, having found a home that she has made an offer on as well. Hopefully, home inspections will not cause any problems and the mortgage will move ahead smoothly.

But it is so much fun to work with someone who listens, takes action, and is genuinely pleased with your help. It all makes it worthwhile and the hugs and smiles are an added bonus.

Nick & Trudy....this is exactly what it's all about.  You deal with schmucks sometimes, so it's great to deal with folks who are coachable.  Kudos on your success here!
