Assembly Approves Legislation Banning Private Transfer Fees

On September 30, 2010, the New Jersey General Assembly approved A-2861, legislation strongly supported by NJAR® which bans the use of private transfer fees on newly constructed properties and creates disclosure requirements on properties where these fees are already in place. It is expected that the full Senate will consider this legislation on October 18, 2010. Due to amendments adopted by the Senate, the Assembly will have to reconsider this legislation, which is expected to occur on October 25, 2010. The bill will then be considered by Governor Christie to be signed into law. NJAR® would like to thank those REALTORS® who participated in this week's Call for Action in support of this legislation
