I just updated an earlier post http://activerain.com/blogsview/757736/taylorsville-utah-fire-station about the Taylorsville Fire Department, part of the Unified Fire Authority in Salt Lake County, Utah. It seems one of my early posts on activerain is found when people Google Taylorsville Fire department, they find my post. I have had many calls over time from people trying to reach the fire department. Usually they are wanting to set up a tour for the scouts or a school class. Today the caller said I smell smoke and I think I want the fire department to check it out. I told him he might want to call 911.

I just updated my earlier post with this information:

This is a post for information about the Taylorsville Fire Station. Part of the Unified Fire Authority. If this is an emergency please Dial 911.

If you are looking for information regarding station tours, community programs and other such non emergency please call 801-743-7150.

The power of Active Rain - I've heard of getting calls for restaurants and other local offices, but the Fire Department? Who doesn't know to call 911 when they smell smoke?

Lisa, You would think that wouldn't you. Recently we had a huge fire threaten Herriman, Utah. It is in the foothills of the mountains and the fire was kept at bay by many courageous fire fighters. Two homes were lost, which is pretty amazing. Any way the whole Salt Lake Valley was filled with smoke. You couldn't avoid smelling smoke. Still better safe than sorry in my opinion.

Wanda, I guess it is working. Thanks

Carla, It has been strange. When I went looking for the number it was awfully hard to find. You can't find phone numbers to any of the individual fire stations. You have to call the main office and set up tours and such with them.

Thanks  for your comments!

Ok...that's a scary call to get! Good updates to your post, Randy. Great news, though, that you're being picked up by Google!
