Annapolis, Maryland Named One of Top Six Waterfront Towns In America

I have the privilege of living and working in one of the most beautiful towns in America.  Annapolis, Maryland was recently named one of the top 6 waterfront towns in the country by National Geographic Adventure Magazine.  Many unique features contributed to our historic colonial town being selected as one of the best:

  • Recognized as a recreational hub alongside the Chesapeake Bay
  • Surrounded by several bodies of water
  • One of the most desirable towns to live and retire
  • A mecca for sailing, windsurfing and crabbing
  • The Sailing Capital of America
  • Home to the National Sailing Hall of Fame
  • Maryland's State Capital
  • Host to the largest in-the-water Sailboat and Power Boat shows
  • Home to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation
  • Tourist friendly town

Annapolis has many cultural events throughout the year including The Blues Festival, Joe Byrd Jazz Concerts, The Annapolis Symphony, Maryland Hall for the Creative and Performing Arts, free concerts by the Naval Academy Band performed on the waterfront plaza at the Annapolis City Dock, and The Annapolis Summer Garden Theater.

Annapolis is a walking town that provides many beautiful sights starting with a vast variety of yachts at the City Dock.  Restaurants and speciality shops beckon to you along the Dock area and continuing up along Main Street, Maryland Avenue and Inner West Street.  History abounds in every direction.  There are many historical treasures to tour such as The State House, The Paca House and the Hammond Harwood House.  There are tour boats that take visitors to the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay and to the Thomas Point Light House.  You can even reserve a private sailing yacht complete with captain and dinner and have a private party on the Bay well into the evening hours.

As you take your evening stroll through Annapolis you can enjoy an incredible sunset filling the sky over the Annapolis Harbor, bringing a peaceful ambience to our top waterfront town.

David,  Hi neighbor!  I'll look you up.  It's always good to have a friend to call when I need to get some tech work done.  Where in AA Co are you?

I live on the Glen Burnie/Millersville line...HOWEVER, I also have a house in North Carolina, so I travel weekly back and forth.   The majority of my clients are up here (expecially my tech clients)  anywhere from Baltimore City - to Waldorf.  The majority of my time is spent in the Crofton/Gambrills area.  Any excuse to pop over to Annapolis is fine with me, I love to help when you need it.  Even if I am in NC, Usually I am back in MD within a day or two, or I can remotely fix your PC, or if its really bad, I have my assistant who is an extreme techie (he is my tech support) work on your system, thats rare however, because I seem to always be in MD or its simple for me to remotely fix.

Great post on Annapolis  (I think I might cruise on over to Pussers Grille for lunch!)

Pat, I'd like to spend some more time exploring Annapolis.  In late April, I spent a wonderful day in Annapolis with some friends at a bachelor party, sailing on the Bay and then crabs and beer at night.  But, I've been meaning to actually get around the town a bit more.

Candy,  Hey, that's OK, we enjoy visitors!  Glad you enjoyed reading about Annapolis.  You would enjoy a visit even more, it is truly a picturesque town with a variety of activities.  Or just enjoy walking around the town, lots to see on a short walk through the historical side streets.  Not as big as Texas though!  :)

Hi Brian,  This is a great time to visit Annapolis again.  The breezes from the waterfront make it so perfect for walks around town.  You had a good view of Annapolis from a sailboat - and enjoyed the Bay both as a sailor and eating the crabs from the Bay!  Time to come back!
