I don't know how the elections are going in your state, but in the mess that is California, they are heated and mean.  We teach our children to behave better than these "politicians"...and I use this term in the most uncomplimentary of ways.

What is really irking me this election year as compared to any in my history is how the ads are describing these problems.  All of a sudden, "Sacramento" is a noun not used to describe a city.  "Sacramento" is now used to describe the policy of whatever party feels have been wronged. For example:

"Change the status quo of Sacramento."
"No longer accept Sacramento politics."
"Sacramento got us into this mess"

C'mon folks...Sacramento did nothing.  Our legislature did nothing...and that is the problem.  Take the high road and if you must lay blame, have the decency and commitment to lay it on the party that you feel is responsible.

Sacramento is a beautiful city, nestled between the clear waters of the American River and the muddy run-off waters of the Sacramento River.  It has more trees per capita than any other city in the world.  Sacramentans are nice people who enjoy the arts, sports and support each other through thick and thin.

So "politicians", quit blaming Sacramento for the mess that you got us into!

They are a bunch of goons, all of them. The state is in a mess because of the ineffectiveness of these so called elected officials

Please don't go blaming any specific party... also part of what got us into this mess.  We elected individuals (not a party).  Sadly, they then seem to take on mob-mentality.

How do we continue to vote in the ignorant group that seems to spent so continuously.

Hi John!
I want another option on the ballot...a "None of the Above". If enough people check that box, then we get a do-over with new candidates!

Hi Rama!
I agree...they are so stuck on keeping their jobs or party lines that they are frozen. It is a broken system...and I blame all parties.

Hi Anne-marie!
I wish there was one party to blame...any party to blame, but it is a group effort.  It is all about party lines, not representation of their districts.

Seems like I get really tired of the political ads a few weeks out each go round but this year is worse.  We've started taping TV shows so we can forward through commercials!  And, we're in Washington so we hear a lot about "which Washington is she/he working for".

I hate election time.  Being a Californian I'm sure it's all Sacramento's fault.  LOL....

We can't change them unless we change THEM

Funny how people place blame elsewhere rather unto themselves. It's easier. Election time brings out the best in people, lol.

Election time is a great time to take a vacation.  My solution is to toss all the literature before it is readE

Paula, I'm still waiting for one of our candidates to step up with something concrete on how they're going to fix the problems. We all know we have them and are really sick of being reminded of it.

BTW, isn't there something inherently wrong with electing someone who rails against the politicians and other "people in power" and yet is spending millions to become one of them? Just askin!

Hi Gayla!
It sounds like all states have the same politicians...just different locales.  I hadn't thought of using the recording for avoidance! Smart!

Hi Susan!
I think that is the problem.  We have gotten to the point that no one in their right minds wants to be a politician...which leaves it to.....

Hi Jackie!
I can't remember the last time I voted for someone that I was excited about...oh, wait! I am really proud of Kevin Johnson, our mayor...and I really meant that. Too bad our city council isn't as ready for change!

Hi Sally!
I would take the vacation, but it would have to last too long!  I don't read the literature, since it is always skewed by the writer.

Hi Greg!
I truly believe they don't have answers that our legislature will pass, so they just rail on each other to divert attention.  Regarding the BTW....;o)

Paula - I think every politician makes promises and once he or she gets elected it's all about staying in office.  They seem to forget why they ran in the first place.

PS - I spent a few days in Sacramento this summer and loved it.  I saw Steve Miller at Raley Field and had a great time.

As a citizen of Sacramento, I second this Blog!   Have had the same thoughts myself, on many occasions.  It's not the town, people, it's the big white building on Cap Mall!
