The purest of intentions!Real estate sales is a vocation that at times can be either very fulfilling or extremely frustrating. And during this historic market correction, it is much more often the latter rather than the former.

And while we may have the purest of intentions when it comes to serving our clients, very often desperate times may call for desperate measures. We are forced to expand our “comfort zone” on an almost daily basis.

But it’s not just about pushing the envelope in order to collect a commission. As it becomes harder and harder for purchasers to complete a transaction, it is often necessary to be flexible when it comes to protecting their interest.

I’m not talking about breaking the law or violating the code of ethics. But I am speaking of doing whatever is necessary to get the job done.

These days that might meaning breaking done some old barriers and treading on new ground.

And always maintaining good intentions!

Making sales come together these days is just more work. Both buyers and sellers are being more cautious in their decision making process. As agents we need to find the patience to sit tight with these clients and understand the struggle their needs present them.

As agents, we also have to work together to get these deals closed. Forget any issues you may have with each other. It's about our clients, period. An agent that I know, her deal is going south because the other agent is not doing what is supposed to be done and the home may go into foreclosure on Monday! All because of "lack" of communication. He couldn't find the time because it's interrupting his fun, weekend time. Unreal.

Richard, at our retreat we just had this week, one of the speakers was talking JUST that --- how to "serve" our clients, and not appear desperate, even if we are.     To get across to the client that THEY are the only thing that is important.      A better focused transaction!

Exactly the kind of issue I'm talking about. How far do you go? If you intention is to help your client, you may have to move out of your comfort zone. Thank you so much for adding to the conversation.


And that is and always should be the bottom line. Thanks so much.


The buyer may be as desperate or more desperate than the agent. We have many cases where our buyers had no where else to go. So I'm not just talking about the desperation of a starving agent. Thanks my friend.


But what if your client is the desperate one? How far will you go? That's my food for thought for this Saturday. I'm just trying to make people thing. Thanks you as always, for your continued support!

I know many agents that MUST make a sale and it shows.  I am lucky that I don't 'need' to make a sale.  When you get into that position is where mistakes are made and clients are not served properly

I have always tried to abide by the rules and keep the client's best interest as the focus. Sure, it may bite me once in a while but in the end doing what is right works out.  Am I naive?

I am always looking out for my client's best interest.  Unfortunately, they aren't always doing the same.  At the end of the day...I sell real estate.  Even real estate, that I may think will be a risk to my buyer.  I make my concerns clear but if they choose to proceed, I do as they ask and write the contract.

There isn't an agent I know that isn't working outside their comfort zone, and doing it in a completely ethical manner.

Everything in real estate is just simply harder these days.

Richard, we recently had a client who wanted us to purchase a home at a trustee sale on his behalf. When the bidding began, we decided to bid a little higher than HIS max bid and take it out of our own margin, just because we knew he really wanted the house and it was for his primary residence. We got outbid anyway, but at least we tried! :)

Yes times are hard and we have to team up to make deals happen, or just to get clients. It is a chore now a days to complete a transaction...I feel like the tight rope walker in a circus! Careful,,,inch forward.... inch forward....careful and balance....inch forward and two steps back!

Well, I know that I am teaming up with agents in my area to collectively market our properties.  That's not outside my comfort zone, but it is sure is outside my broker's comfort zone.  The one good thing about all of this is that we are all in the same boat and are working together more closely to market our properties and bring them through to completion.
