Marietta, Georgia celebrates its rich southern heritage in many unique ways. As the site of several decisive Civil War battles, many historic landmarks, relics and remains of this era dot the Marietta landscape. One of the most reknown Confederate cemeteries has been preserved in the city. On Sunday, October 10th, the Marietta Confederate Cemetery Foundation, Keep Marietta Beautiful and the City of Marietta are sponsoring guided walking tours through the Marietta City Cemetery. The tours will run from 1:30 to 4:00 PM. Volunteers dressed in period costumes will be at the grave sites to tell the story of the people buried there. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on site. What a special way to raise awareness of our history and appreciate our the united country in which we now live.
