Gestures of kindness are less often heard of nowadays. So when you hear of good deeds from kindhearted individuals, it makes one’s heart overflow with gladness. It’s even more meaningful when these selfless acts are unsolicited, and, especially from people you have not met before.
In this business, it is very heartening to discover that acts of kindness still abound.
When my listed property was broken into, an agent called me that same day to tell me that she arrived at the house with the door wide open and a window glass cracked. It could have been worse, considering what other acts of desperation one may be led to commit. I was of course very grateful for that one phone call.
On another occasion, when the For Sale sign I had on one of my properties was blown away by strong winds, it landed two blocks away on the front yard of an elderly man. I received a call the following day - he said he had my sign, and that I can pick it up from him anytime.
How many more acts of kindness do we encounter day-to-day? These are deeds that never get published, never get on the headlines, but when they touch us, they touch our hearts as well.
“One can pay back the loan of gold, but one lies forever in debt to those who are kind.”
- Malayan Proverb
