No Snowbird TRAFFIC in Jacksonville, FL

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Jacksonville Realty

With fall and winter approaching, the weather in the North East part of Florida is WONDERFUL. We actually have a little cooler winter, where we really do get to wear our Golf Sweaters and Jackets!!

However, what we don't have.....is all the Snowbirds coming to Jacksonville. I used to live in Clearwater/Palm Harbor and WOW....the traffic got so much heavier during the winter months. You really had to add on an extra 15-20 minutes to your drive times to allow for Snowbird Traffic.

I'm not sure WHY they don't come to Jacksonville, we have BEAUTIFUL Beaches, great HOSPITALS, Wonderful Shopping Malls (Indoor ones to do your walking, and outdoor ones like St Johns Town Center), and our weather is PERFECT!!

Last year was one of the coldest winters in a long time, with MANY days of frost, but you sure can't beat the CLEAR BLUE SKIES!!!

I LOVE JACKSONVILLE and the housing values are so undervalued too. You can still get some GREAT DEALS on homes and condos in JACKSONVILLE.

They have little money, are in fear of losing their jobs or retirement income and are sticking close to home.

I too used to live in the Tampa Bay area and traveled to Clearwater regularly. Traffic nightmare! Perhaps Jacksonville is a little too far north to be certain of warm winter weather?

Fun to visit but give me winter for skiing, snowsledding, ice hockey.

I visited Jax about 10 years ago with thoughts of moving there. I really like the area. The only thing less than great wasn't the wonderful color it is a couple hours farther south.

Snow birds are not selling their homes in order to move to Florida.

I guess that's it. It's not ALWAYS HOT up here in JACKSONVILLE.

THey don't need to move here, I just thought more snowbirds  would enjoy staying here a couple of weeks/months,  not being with ALL the others, it's less hectic here.

Andrew, likewise....Fun to visit the snow and ski, but I don't care to shovel and live in it. Been there, and done that in northern Illinois?!
