Bill has posted a great reminder of the dangers of Cabon Monoxide poisoning.  This deadly, orderless gas can devistate a family in a short while.  Please read and take action!!!!

Carbon Monoxide!!!   This silent killer is responsible for many deaths every year and the heating season is prime time!  Check those CO detectors and consider getting one that costs more than 20 bucks!

NOW!!! Is the time to get that furnace checked.  If you burn wood, make sure the chimney is clear and cleaned.  Some kind of a cold air supply is also needed, especially in NEW homes that are so air tight.  Negative air pressure inside, caused by the burning of the oxygen in the home that is not readily replaced,  will keep this harmful gas from leaving the home via the chimney and can even cause your water heater  not vent properly.

If you won't do this for yourself...do it for a loved one.  You will never know if you have saved a life, but you will always know if you could have.

Every year every news outlet runs some kind of warning and they get very in depth on the dangers.  An even better way is to ask your gas company to come and check your furnace and to a check on your CO level in the home.  They will also advise you where to have the detectors installed.

PLEASE....don't wait.

2 years ago, a friend was having a holiday get together.  They lived in a rambler style home.  16 people!   At 3 am when someone awoke and realized there was something wrong, 8 of the members did not respond.   It was determined that the furnace was faulty.  Although everyone did survive several were hospitalized for over a week.

This is a real Threat...I don't want to hear your name on the news.

One last thing. If you are using an indoor flame be it a wood burning fireplace or small stove...burning of plastics and Styrofoam along with other garbage is not only illegal but is very dangerous in a confined area.  Dispose of these items properly.  Even well vented chimneys may not remove all the toxic gases.
