A PALM CITY BARN:  THE SHRINE OF A GOOD LIFE.....BY CAROL BARRON-CROSS..

I can not help but remember some of the days on our farm in Alabama.  My father gave me the farm jeep at the age of 12 to learn to shift gears and be a regular farm "HAND".  That is what a laborer was called in those days.  I loved to split the mud puddles straight open with the jeep after a great rain.  You see....there was a problem in our family.  My father was expecting a boy to be born and to be named, Larry Jerome.  However, since Carol came along, he just settled for a Tom Boy.  While working the farm in the summer, my Dad would let me ride with him to check the range.  I remember we had the most beautiful BIG RED BARN on a parcel of land that looked to me as beautiful as "Tara".  As I became a young woman and years passed, I asked my mother to take me to the BIG RED BARN.  When I was in college, this farm was sold to someone who obviously had no respect for my BIG RED BARN. The barn had been ignored for years and was on its way out. ALMOST GONE.

Since I live in Palm City Farms and sell equestrian properties and land, I am constantly around barns of all designs.  Palm City Farms equestrian community has a Barn that reminds me of my BIG RED BARN.  This barn had falling ill and I watched it for years leave us.  One day a new owner bought it and restored it with lots of love.  I want to share Palm City Farm's BIG RED BARN with those that read my blog.  Those who seek the spirit of America might do well to look first in the countryside, for it is there that the spirit was born.  While there are still patches of countryside left, and while remnants of the OLD BARNS remain, we will be able to enjoy the past and present.  To often Americans  come to realize the beauty and excellence of the homes built, but too often their barns are regarded as mere curiosities.  BARNS are the shrines of a a good life and ought to be remembered!

Hi, I just love old barns!! My parents grew up on farms and I spent my summers there as a child. I loved it!! Ever since then I have just loved old barns. I've been looking for some that are local to use as backgrounds for some photo sessions. Big old real red (or not red) barns would be great. In your line of work I imagine you know of just about all the local ones that exist. Do you know of any that I can drive by and look at? You wouldn't have to ask them anything for me, unless you wanted to see if they'd mind. Some of the photos could even be from the street with the barn in the back. I could ask them after I found a few that would be perfect for backgrounds. Thank you so much. I would really appreciate the information. Becky Burton copperlens@yahoo.com

Sorry for not getting back to you quickly. Been unavailable to answer. I always shoot from the street, In this case, I asked before because they are neighbors.  I collect barns from all over by just shooting a pic.
