Hidden Springs Idaho - A Dog Owner's Dream! Hidden Springs Idaho - Dog Friendly Neighborhood

The Hidden Springs Community may be one of the most walkable (and dog-friendly) neighborhoods in Ada County.  Well maintained sidewalks line every street, there's very little noisy traffic, and the foothill views and open space are a welcome backdrop for a short stroll or a serious hike!

With 800 acres of open space open to the resident's use, it's a dog-lover's paradise.  Within the community and open spaces, dogs are required to be leashed and contained at all times.  Red Tail Trail, which is part of the Ridges to Rivers trail system at the edge of Hidden Springs--this is the trailhead is just east of the intersection of Humphreys Way and Dry Creek Road--allows controlled off-leash access.  Controlled off-leash access requires dog owners to be within 30 feet of their pet at all times, and you must not allow the dog to dig, or go on a hunting adventure in the midst of the local wildlife (or harass other residents pretty please)   Pretty common sense!

The Hidden Springs HOA has been discussing the possibility of converting "Cougar Field" at the intersection of Dry Creek and Humphreys as a dog park.  Informally, many of the residents are already using this area for off-leash retrieving and exercise.  Funding to make improvements to the park (including addition of fencing) is not currently available and the project is currently tabled.  For a full map of the open space areas, see the map link below.

Other guidelines:  Dogs are not allowed to roam free in the neighborhood and must be contained on your own property boundaries.  Most of the community parks have trash cans and a kiosk stand with free, biodegradable "doggie bags" in case poochy-poo has to take care of the duties while out on a walk.  Lastly, barking dogs can be a real nuisance.  Please be a responsible pet owner and we'll all get along just fine!

More opinions than you want to hear about.

Breed specific exclusions are a dog owner's nightmare.  All it takes is one irresponsible owner with a (choose any breed) and one incident, and the list will double in size.

I've been to Idaho once in the winter, it was beautiful, loved it.  Our open land is either swamps or prairie's.
