Greetings from Estes Park!
Last night in Loveland, Colorado, the Estes Park High School Marching Band under the direction of Chuck Varilek and assistant director Dan Timbrell placed first in class 1A and 2A competition with a score of 58.
The band will be traveling to Grand Junction for the State Finals on October 25. The 2010 show features the concert band music of Howard Hanson which has a high degree of difficulty. The show this year concentrates on the music and complex marching drills rather than a theme with props.
Band Director Varilek commented,"the kids have a great chance to win first place this year against some competition from much larger schools. We need to focus on consistency for this show with our remaining rehearsals." Good Luck Bobcat Marching Band!
