The Mesmerizing Colors of Absarokee at Night!

By
Education & Training

As I had finished taking photos for the fall colors in Absarokee and Columbus yesterday (October 13, 2010), and was back in Absarokee to make dinner for friends at their house in Absarokee (yes, I brought all the ingredients with me to make two pizzas, a Hawaiian and one with 9 different ingredients which I dropped off prior to going on my latest fall colors photo hunt expedition) this was the last photo I captured:

The sky is on fire - Absarokee by night

This did not make it in the fall color series but I found the colors so mesmerizing that I thought it deserved a post of its own to share the view.  :)

I am thankful for Mother Nature (Father Nature as well before Russel Ray corrects me) for always providing me with great views to observe and photograph throughout the year.  I am thankful for friends to share company, great stories and dinners with.  I am thankful for the roof over my head.  I am thankful for my dogs, for the joy and unconditional love they provide day in and day out no matter what.   For those that are not aware, there is this wonderful group called Thankful Thursdays created by Susan Mangigian.  Take a moment to check it out and feel free to participate!   :)

Carpe diem.

And the 9 ingredients pizza was suppose to be a 10 ingredients pizza but I forgot to bring one of the ingdredients!    It was nonetheless delicious (the best of the two) and no one noticed the missing ingredient!  :)

Hi Gerry - Ever since I started to activerly blog on ActiveRain, I have usually carried a camera.  You really need to always have a camera to capture sunsets and sunrises since they only last for a very short period of time.

I thought your thankful paragraph was due to the fact that you were so thankful that it was Canadian Thanksgiving Day. :)  Was turkey one of the ingredients on your pizza?

Nice picture Gerry, makes me think of the song... "Out in the west in the town of El Paso", you can imagine the melody.  Gerry you should ask Marc about his encounter with the waves of Lake Simcoe.

Marc,

Canadian Thanksgiving Day has passed and the American Thanksgiving will be here before we now it in November but there is no limit on how many days you can be thankful.

Turkey was not one of the many ingredients (ham was the meat on the first pizza and pepperoni was the only meat on the second pizza).

Oh yeah, and I did make a habit to take my camera everywhere I go.   Never know when the sunrise or sunset will be more striking than usual and never know when that moose will appear.  I will never forgive myself for the only one time I did not take it with me on a hike in July 2010.  The only time I have seen 3 moose in Montana (bull moose, cow moose and baby moose).  The picture will always stay in my mind.

Vegas Bob,

I did not realize it till I read your comment, but it does have those Halloween colors to and who knows, one of those houses seen in the background may turn out to be haunted!  :)

What a fabulous shot!  You were making Hawaiian Pizza in Montana?  I couldn't get my kids to try it until we actually went to Hawaii, then they loved it.

Gerry,

This shot is amazing! I've heard of "behind every white cloud is a silver lining". So what do you think this one is? Behind every black (or dark) cloud is a fiery lining?

Blazing skies over Montana, this one is spectacular!

Chris,

Mahalo.  I sure did make Hawaiian pizza in Montana which was a first for me.  One of my friends that lives in Absarokee grew up in Hawaii so it was a special treat for him.  Plus, I had a craving for pineapple and the Hawaiian pizza took care of that.  :)

Debi,

It was an unexpected scene just before I pulled in the driveway.   Some times it is the photos you did not plan for that turn out to be the best.  :)

Sussie,

I am glad I can provide inspiration for a painting from time to time.  Mother Nature painted this one and provided me the inspiration to capture it with a photo and share it.   It sure would be interesting to see the photo turn back to a painting.   :)

Patricia,

I enjoyed your play of words.   You should see the blazing sky I captured in Columbus prior to getting back to Absarokee.   I have a feeling it is more blazing than this one!   :)

I plan to share it right after I post the photos of the fall colors in Columbus (part 8 of 10 of my colorful fall photos series).   Stay tuned!
