Verizon iPad In Two Weeks...Time For Me To Dream

iPad

I was VERY exited to see the story in the New York Times today that Verizon Wireless will begin selling the iPad on October 28th (which just happens to be two weeks from today).  For those of us who are Verizon customers for life, this could mean that the long-rumored Verizon iPhone might not be far behind.

I've been using my BlackBerry Curve for more than two years and it is beginning to look VERY dated.  I am so ready for a new phone and desperately want to jump on the iPhone bandwagon.  I just can't bring myself to use AT&T's service (at least that's what they claim it is), even for the greatest phone on the planet.  As brilliant as Steve Jobs is, I believe that giving AT&T exclusivity was an enormous mistake on Apple's part.  As great of a device as the iPhone is, it's all rather pointless if a phone doesn't function as a phone.

I wonder how many of my fellow Active Rainers are holding out for a Verizon iPhone.  Please tell me that I'm not alone in my stubborness refusal to purchase a new phone until someone gives me an "official" announcement about these endless rumors.  Hopefully the wait will soon come to an end and I can finally put my BB Curve out to pasture.  Keep your fingers crossed for me us.

Verizon is really the only way to go here in Eastern Montana as well, so we'll just see how this new Apple invasion goes.

Hi Wanda...

I'm glad to hear that the Boston market isn't the only one where we Verizon folks simply can't let go.  Sadly, T-Mobile ranks ahead of AT&T in the Boston market.  This move really doesn't make much sense to me without the iPhone following.

Hi John. Walmart already has them as of Friday. I want the IPhone. I recently read about it in the Wall Street Journal. They say that it's coming earlier next year and I am excited.

Hi Lana...

I was actually in Target last weekend and noticed that they had iPads in stock as well.  The big news with Verizon selling them is that they are offering their own data plan with the iPads.  That is an enormous shift for Apple.  The iPhone to Verizon rumor has been swirling for more than a year, and I have to believe that this may just make it all come true.  Here's hoping!

John~ I  know there is much hype about the iPhone and I to feel into that "have to have" and now I do. I carry two phones one for work my iPhone and one for personal my DROID X if I had to give you one today it would be the iPhone hands down! Not that it is not a good phone, it is. But I am a major techie and I have to push things to their limits and see what I can do with it! It took me all of three hours tto figure out all the iPhone had to offer, I do mean the phone itself because you can add endless apps... So the iPhone is for people that want a good smart phone but want it simple and not to complex in the layers, if that is what you like the iPhone is for you.  For example the iPhone comes standard with about five notification sounds for text messages they all are crap and NO you CAN NOT add more, unless maybe you jail break it which I would never do.. I could go on and on about the limitations of the phone.  The DROID X on the other hand is endless and extremely customizable, you REALLY need to take a look... By the way I have the iPhone 3g S.

Sorry for the Book that I just wrote!LOL

Thanks for the great feedback Melissa.  I've definitely been a bit tempted by the Droid and haven't read a single bad review on the "X".  I think that Apple's App Store is what really puts the iPhone over the top, in my opinion.  I'm desperate to retire my BB Curve, so if Verizon doesn't follow through with the release of the iPhone like I think they will, I will definitely purchase the Droid X the Curve is beginning to feel like the VCR of cell phones.
