Big Cypress National Park Everglades

Big Cypress National Park

Why?  I just felt like it.  Since I was up to my waist in swamp and gator and I took it, I thought I'd post it.  No points, naturally I'm over my limit, so keep the whining to a minimum and at least rate the post like the good little 'Rainer that you are.

This is smaller cypress in Big Cypress.  I highly recommend you walk in the Everglades once in your life, it's like not seeing the Grand Canyon or not ever seeing the Ocean

You're missing it and you don't know it.

Maggie Dokic, you're close enough to do this with your kids this weekend.

Your review of the Florida Everglades is welcome and encouraged.  Bad attitudes belong at the website over there  ~~>

Cyndee there are guided tours all weekend at the big cypress gallery.  There were alot of kids there:  Clyde Butchers  I'll be posting more about Clyde Butcher and the whole experience. It's an awesome opportunity to meet an iconic photo artist.  He is signing books and so lovely to chat with.  I highly encourage taking his tour!

Love your picture!!!  Not so sure I'd like to wade around in gator water though!  I'm actually a chicken when it comes to reptiles that have teeth.

That's the misconception, Karen. You're really in do danger in the cypress.  The water is clear as tap water and the animals want nothing to do with you.   Besides if they bit me, I'd be bitter and they'd spit me back out.

Damn Chris-

I know you said that your pool was overdue for a cleaning - but this is ridiculous!

I can almost hear the theme from Deliverance

That's gorgeous!  The water really IS clear!  I was expecting pond scum or something.  I'd go wading with you.

You're braver than I am. I really enjoyed stopping at Clyde Butcher's place, but going in the swamps? No, not me.

When Tami and I drive across Alligator Alley, she always sees the gators even though she's driving. I'm closer to the water, but still don't see them!

Sardi, remember THAT.  I am hard core.  I can probably kick you arse too.

Chris, the pictures look great. That's good enough for me. People like to compare Florida and California. I always tell them there is no comparison. In Florida everything bites. You'll never convince me otherwise.
