Searcy Arkansas sleuths are presented another puzzle house.

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Advantage

Probably 35 years ago I rescued a batch of photographs of houses in Searcy Arkansas that the husband of this lady had designed and built.  The pictures were nice and clear black and white and the floor plans were included.

This particular house sold and I gave the old photo to the buyer.  He is no longer the owner now and I asked for a copy of the picture back for this blog.  Blogging at that time was not even in my vocabulary. So Searcy Sleuths see if you recognize this one.

 Old house in Searcy AR

Mystery not solved so here it is today.

I haven't put the Google Man to work yet but this house is similar to another house designed by the same man and  you posted earlier. I had to flip the picture horizontally (mirror image) to make it look almost the same.

920 E. Race

This one haa a little porch. This house location is 920 W. Race.

There's another one in the area where Paula lived on Locust St.

Is is similar, Don, but the wrong one.  I'll bet the guy did this one too, though.

The picture Don put up is the early house of Elmer and Louise Yancey....and Elmer Dale, affectionately known as E.D.

I'm stumped but not out for the count, YET.

Anita, I believe you're right about that.  Mostly I heard him called Elmer Dale until he became middle aged and the E. D. became used more.  I still miss him.  He was a very nice man and cared so much about the city of Searcy Arkansas.

Might this house be on what I call the Pangburn highway....but close to the intersection of Race?  close to Jim and Ruth Wisemans house?

Anita, wrong again.  I'm beginning to think the Searcy Sleuths are going to have to be renamed the Slow Searcy Sleuths.  LOL

Searcy Sleuths slipped again.  Therefore I have added the "today" picture of this house.  The last occupant was a chocolate shop called Perlie Mae's.  In fact, I bragged on it in a blog.  Before that it was a real estate office.  In fact, way back I think a different real estate office made it look so neat like it does today.

So is it on Race Street?  Do I have to go back to your original blog to find out?    I just talked with Billy Fuller a few minutes ago and we are still trying to figure out where it is.

Surely it isn't the "old" L.A. Thompson, 912 E. Race, is it?  Carolyn Thompson was a year ahead of me in school, SHS Class of '53.

I Googled Pearley Mae's Choc. Shop.   It is on the corner of Main and Race.  But NOT in my mind.

507 North Main is the address.  It makes the teacher feel bad when the whole class flunks!  : (  I liked the the time when the guys found the houses that I didn't know existed and matched them up.  Now that was smart!!!

507 North Main doesn't tell me anything.  What is on either side?

As far as I am concerned, when the WHOLE class flunks, the teacher should be the first one to be looked at.  (and I know not to end a sentence in a prepotion but hey!)

It is  just north of Vine.  I think the old B. L. Oliver house is next door.

My Dad was just talking tonight about how when he was raised on W Academy, they took away most of their front yard when they paved the road.  Looks like the road overtook this homes yard, as well.

Anita, you shore no how to hurt a pore ole blogger.  I done my best with teh class.  You need to hop on Mr. Google's shoulder and walk by this house.

Harold Gene, you're a nice guy.  I'm not sure what the Oliver house is.

Dana, I think part of the front yard's problem was parking.  There was room for only a few cars and so the sidewalk had to go.  I need to drive by and see if the sidewalk exists on the rest of the street. But didn't they do a good job of keeping the old house looking nice.

I"m pretty sure I know where it is, NOW!  but the B.L. Oliver house isn't next door (is it?)...

Didn't Dwayne Treat have a small Used Car lot on that street, too.  Close to this house?
