The Department of Natural Resources and Environment will check deer in East Tawas on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 10 am to 3 pm, until 11/14/2010.
The check station, located at the East Tawas Harbor Dock, is open primarily to enhance tuberculosis surveillance efforts in Iosco County, but hunters may bring any deer they harvest to the check station.
Hunters who bring a deer to the check station will receive a complimentary, commemorative patch of the 2010 deer hunting season.
The check station will be open throughout the firearms season as well.
