Speechless Sundays - Separation Of Church And State

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Executives

There are many churches here in Northern Virginia that date back to both the 18th and 19th century. I have a substantial photographic collection of them that I hope to post in a video at some point in time.

The photo below is the Town Hall of Occoquan, VA, a small and quaint historic town on the Occoquan River in Prince William County. It is very obvious the 20th century building was, at one time, a church. Thank goodness the congregation moved out before the town staff moved in.

Karen:  What a great looking church.  I am sure that many of the city hall people just might BE praying for things to get better.  But still, these old churches are such a great part of our heritage.

Thank goodness the congregation moved out before the town staff moved in?  I understand what you're saying, but had the congregation not moved out (or gone wherever they went), the town staff could never have moved in!

Bob  Of course, it would never have happened, but a town hall in a church made me wonder  :)

Karen--I say thank goodness they found a use for the building so that it will continue to be maintained and will be there for future generations to enjoy!
