Christmas in September? Now is a Great Time to buy Real Estate

Can’t we just get past Halloween before we start advertisingKMart Christmas Decorations Christmas? That’s all I ask. I have had these pictures in my cell phone since September 22, 2010. Christmas displays at Home Depot and K-Mart. Go ahead, after October 31 and put up those all the Christmas displays you want. But, let’s get the pumpkins, ghosts and goblins out of the way first?

Christmas Decorations in Home DepotI feel for the retailers. It is a tough market. I know this because I sell homes. Remember when our National Association of Realtors came out with the “great time to buy” marketing program? Most of America seems to remember it all too well. Now the car dealer, Toyota, has launched the “Now’s the Time” campaign for their dealers (see video). It all seems like desperation jive talk to me.

I think that if a person wants to buy a new car they do it because the car offers them something that the current ride does not and that they can afford it. I think if someone wants to buy a house, it is because buying the house is in the right location, affordable and the person sees benefits to owning a home rather than renting one. I think placing Christmas decorations out for display before the second week of November is just plain foolishness.

I would love for this economy to turn around and buyers were confident that their job would be there for them tomorrow. But, I don’t think anyone is going to go out and buy any big ticket items or even seasonal Christmas decorations unless they really really (notice my emphasis on really?) in need of the item. Being first to advertise or display the inventory is not the same as being FIRST to do it right like the Apple ipod, iphone, and ipad. Too bad those things are not made in the USA to provide jobs with security to the American Consumers so that they can buy what they make.

HAPPY Halloween

go trick or treating

Greg,

It's so funny. Hate to say I remember when; but-I-remember-when holiday advertising wasn't mixed up like "fruit cocktail".

Have a great weekend!

Steve, I was just amazed to walk into Home Depot in September and see the display. Then, I went to KMart and they too have Christmas selling in full swing. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I have been a bit behind on my AR posts and comments so its nice to see you again.

Tis the season to be WAY too early to be putting Christmas items....I haven't even started thinking about that yet, nor do I want to until the month starts with NOV :)

Greg, you and I remember when the Christmas shopping season started at Thanksgiving...when Santa finished the Macy's Parade!

Bill, I'm on over load already with Christmas and I'm not out of October. Even this tune won't bring out:

Laura, you are so right. I love the Macy's Parade and then watching Miracle on 34th Street. Still do but it is way too early for me.

Yes, can't we take the holidays one at a time to enjoy them.  At least three weeks ago, our Walmart put out Christmas Decorations, it was September!!  I mean we have Halloween and Thanksgiving and many Jewish holidays to mention some.  Must we start X-mas so soon.  On QVC they start in JULY!!
