Stop Using All Those Marketing Buzz Words

Services for Real Estate Pros with Digital and Direct Response Marketing

Marketing Sales Folks– stop with the marketing buzz words they are a clear sign you don’t understand marketing.

I have posted about sales calls a few times.  However the other day I was on a call and the sales person just tossed out one buzz word after the next.  It was clear to me and would be to anyone who worked in the industry that this person didn’t know what they were talking about.  Here are some marketing buzz words and phrases I have come across over the last few weeks that are over used by sales people all the time.

  • Integrated Marketing
  • CRM
  • Viral Marketing
  • 360 view of the customer
  • Innovative Marketing Company (ah yeah otherwise why be in business)
  • Organic (as in SEO – now that is a first)
  • Grass roots
  • User generated content
  • Twitter effect
  • Our market is right for your target audience

So, if you are thinking of calling me to sell something here is a quick tip.  Lose the marketing buzz words and just get to the point.

If you see any marketing buzz words that are missing in the above list just let me know and I will add them to the list.

Josef, people who called you, perhaps did not know that you are in the similar field as they pardon their ignorance! (Not that I use these words and siding with them...)

I feel your pain and frustration. People out of work and get the unlucky job of telephone sales to real estate agents. I feel sorry for them and try to be as polite as possible while getting off the phone as quickly as possible.

I took one of those calls from a west coast area code last week because not every call coming in from those areas is an Internet optimizer sales call.  I was wrong.  It was a sales call.  As I was politely working my way toward getting off the call, the sales person began yelling at me "Judith, ARE YOU BLOWING ME OFF!!!!!".  It made me wonder if that is a sales technique that person has been taught and do they find that it is successful.....all it did was irritate me.

I love "Exclusve" when being marketed to.

Exclusive until we fill the area or subject. Read the contract thats only for 1 per every 500 people or the town is aplit into the east /west side etc.

The only thing exclusive is the check , who it is made payable to lol

Enjoy the day

Gotta say, Josef, your sales pests have better buzz vocabularies than the ones who robocall me.

Praful - I am all for giving the benefit of the doubt but than they didn't do their job and research who they are calling.

Steve and Carol - yes the economy has lead to more hard selling cold calls but some basic understanding of what you are selling and to whom is still in order.

Judith - Wow.  That is bad.  You should have said YES.

Don - good one.  Also limited time / today only.  Nothing like a little pressure to make you take action

Mike - Robocalls.  The worst.  Nothing good about those at all.
