WARNING!!! Do you have on Bright clothes!!!

I was in the local coffee shop today and heard a patron say...

"I was sitting up in my tree and here came a deer.  The brush was just to thick for me to shoot my bow, and THEN! I see this guy all dressed in brown!  If I had been gun hunting, he would have been dead.

First one problem...The hunter needs to make sure of his or her quarry.   The second is, there are a lot of people out in the woods right now for many reasons.  Going for a walk, looking at the land to buy are 2 of the biggest ones.

Do yourself a favor...wear bright colored clothes.  Don't take it for granted that the hunter will be able to tell you apart from a deer or other game animal.

A little forethought could save your life or the life of a loved one!

Vern, great advice.  Many hunters do not look carefully and accidents can happen.  Why take the chance!

Vern, even in a state like New Jersey we have hunters.  This is advice that should be followed!

Great points.  I have talked with my neighbor about this.  When he bought the adjoining property I saw him and his wife walking along the border of our properties wearing all brown during opening deer hunting.  I went and talked to him and I assured him that I could tell he was not a deer, but,  someone on another property may mistake his brown for a deer.

He told me it was his property and he could wear what he wanted to.   I responded that he was right!  He could make that argument all day long if he wanted to.  But, it was going to be hard to argue that point with the cops after he has been shot and has bled out.

He does wear an orange hat now also with hes 'Brown' coveralls.

Vern, It’s been known to happen … the hunters become the hunted. We certainly must be mindful of our surroundings.
