According to the Clare Gladwin MLS, there are presently 63 single family homes for sale on Wixom Lake. This is using a search criteria of the following:
Single family home, Wixom Lake, Waterfront = Yes
To pick up the lake access homes, Waterfront = No
It is important to select Wixom Lake (opposed to Beaverton) for two reasons, one is to pick up the Wixom Lake listings in Hope (Midland County) and to avoid picking up the Ross Lake listings in Beaverton.
It is also important for the listings to be labeled "Wixom Lake" whether they are on the West side, which is the Tobacco River side, or the East side which stretches far to the North and is the Tittabawassee River side of the lake so that they will come up in the Wixom Lake search.
75 homes total for Wixom Lake; 61 are waterfront and 14 are lake access.
When selecting a lake access home or cottage, you will want to make sure the access will offer what you are looking for.
A "street end" access will not allow a place to dock a boat, and depending on the street end, there may or not be swimming. Most often, you may have a spot to stand and fish.
The Apple Blossom Subdivision offers a gated beach area. There is a basket ball hoop, some swings and the beach. There is no parking or picnicing. Offered to property owners for $20 a year.
The Grant Subdivision has an association that you may opt to join. This park lot offers docks on a first come first serve basis. You may choose from two options: $125 for the beach access (there is no swimming beach here) and double it for a dock. Presently there is a waiting list.
There are no public beaches in Billings Township. For a small fee, you may use the dock at "Roosters", a party store (formerly "Don's Party Store) on the north side of Estey just West of the Bridge.
In Tobacco Township you will find the DNR public boat launch. It offers parking, a boat launch and a place to swim. Styker's Marina, Juicy Bones and Smith's Landing are all located in Tobacco Township as well. Smith's landing is also a campground, and there is a second campground across the lake / river from Juicy Bones (formerly Yackies on the water).
