Cannonballs at the Battery in Charleston, SC

A popluar place to get your picture taken while visiting Charleston, SC is the cannonballs located on The Battery in White Point Gardens.  Through the years of living in Charleston, we have seen famous people being photographed while sitting atop or posing as if going to pitch a cannonball.  White Point Gardens offers a variety of Charleston features:  stately mansions, Palmetto trees, a beautiful gazebo, numbeous historical markers, mature oak trees, views of Fort Sumter, Castle Pickney, Sullivan's Island, and James Island.

Joye, Charleston is a beautiful city!  We lived there a couple of times during our Navy times (Mt. Pleasant, Summerville and North Charleston).  Used to love to go to the old Market and look for antiques and interesting items.

Joye, I've never been to Charleston.  Sounds like a great place to live and a great place to visit.  You've inspired me to check it out.

That bridge in your banner is new!  We were there 86-91 with a couple of years in Philly too.  I got back there on business around 95, Mt. Pleasant had grown tremendously, but the Battery...still the same... as some things should always be ;)

Thanks Bill and Liz....yes, I got new photography and changed my banner.  Thanks for noticing.  I'm still fine tuning my blog header......Still haven't settled on the right look.  Guess it's a work in progress.

Hi Faina and Leah, yes, you must come visit Charleston.  There is SO much to do here, alot of it is FREE.  Conde Naste Traveler Magazine just tagged Charleston as the second most visited city in the US, behind San Francisco.  Thanks for the comment.

I’m curious about pitching a cannonball. Surely the legal liability for allowing people to pick up those cannonballs is something to consider.

Hi Russell....Thanks for the comment.  I did clarify "pitching" the cannonball to:  posing as if pitching a cannonball.  Thanks for the comment, and for all of your posts, as I subscriber to your blog!
