One of the special events in Suffern this weekend will take place at the Lafayette Theatre. The Lafayette theatre in Suffern, NY together with Artsrock will be presenting "An Evening With Bernie Williams" on Guitar this Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 8pm.
Though best known as the former Yankees' center fielder,Bernie Williams is also a critically-acclaimed musician. Growing up he played classical guitar as well as baseball and to this day playing and composing music is his passion. He is in fact, currently studying guitar and composition at the State University of New York at Purchase.
Throughout his professional ballplaying years, right along with his ballplaying equipment you'd find his guitar. He was still playing center field for the Yankees when he released his first albumin 2003, "The Journey Within" in which he played lead and rhythm guitar, and composed seven of the album's songs.
His second album, "Moving Forward", achieved strong critical praise and instant chart success, with guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Secada, Dave Koz, The Harlem Boys & Girls Alumni Choir, Famed Yankee announcer Bob Sheppard and an All-Star cast of renowned studio musicians.
