It has been a wet summer and the ground in my area was saturated. 3 weeks ago, I couldn't barely walk through the woods let alone drive my tractor, so cutting fire wood was out of the question.
Even the farmers were wondering how they were going to harvest the Beans, let alone the corn a few weeks later.
But, Mother Nature to the rescue. With some above normal temps and no rain, the Farmers have most of the Beans harvested and are now working on the corn. The ground firmed up and I can now cut wood
This was today's load, minus about 6 logs that went into the furnace. This was about 2 1/2 hours work, with a handful of Real Estate calls thrown in the mix. Not bad if I must say so myself. The trailer is 7 feet wide and 12 feet long. There is over a cord and a half. It is a good start. I only need about 17 or 18 more of these for the winter. We burn 95% wood all winter long. We will save nearly $5,000 on propane for the year, and it will cost less than $100 for gas for the chain saw and tractor.
And to top it off, I will be so Buff!
I hope we don't get to much rain and the snow holds off until Thanksgiving, I will have no problem getting it all cut in between Deer Hunting!
