I heard this the other day, or something like it. Who knows exactly what my brain heard, because I was probably thinking about 10 things at that particular time. Like pumpkins, Disnyland, work, country music, basketball, long walks on the beach, NASCAR, how my doctor said I was overweight when I was only 6 lbs over my ideal average. (Look out Roger Mucci, I might have to take it off in the rain!).
Ok, back to the subject...
I heard someone say this, and it made me think of the movie "Cast Away" with Tom Hanks... Here he was, so desperate to leave the island... To get back to his girl. He watched every day for boats, scanned the skies for planes and tracked the wind to see how it could help him get off the island.
He figured out how to stay alive, what to eat, what to drink. He calculated what it would take to make a raft, and sail it. Knowing that he had to get back, to life... to HIS life.
He jumped on the raft and sailed away. And on this Journey, a boat almost passed him by. A boat that could save him, almost passed him by. In fact, it was the boat that SAW HIM, and stopped. He was not the one to see the boat.
When he was preparing, and studying he knew what to look for... And when the opportunity was knocking... it was just a whisper...
Do we have that in our business? Meeting and talking with potential clients that we may miss out on, because they were only whispering to the effect that they needed our help somewhere down the line?
Sometimes leads are just a whisper... waiting for us to listen to their wants and needs... Waiting for us to see what it was that they needed, or may not know that they even need at the time.
A lead sometimes will not just come out and say, "I need help"... Sometimes a lead needs you to tap them on the shoulder...
